Appointments

You can request an appointment with us online, by phone or in person.

All appointment requests are triaged in the same way regardless of how you contact us.

To request an appointment online

We use an online triage system called Accurx for all medical and administrative requests. This is available 8am – 6:30pm Monday – Friday.

This helps us understand your needs and make sure you are seen by the right person, at the right time.

Our clinical team will review all requests and decide who needs help first based on who needs help most and we will contact you with the appropriate next step.

This may include:

  • advice by text or phone
  • a telephone or face-to-face appointment
  • a link to book an appointment
  • help with an administrative request
  • signposting to another appropriate service

We aim to review requests sent before 5pm on a working day on the same day.

Requests sent after 5pm will be reviewed on the next working day.

Reviewing your request does not always mean we will contact you on the same day. If your problem is not urgent, it may take longer for us to contact you or arrange an appointment.

If we think you need urgent medical help, we will contact you sooner.

If your symptoms get worse, or you become worried while waiting, do not wait for us to contact you. Call NHS 111, phone the practice, or get urgent medical help if needed.

Request an appointment by calling the surgery or attending in person

If you do not have access to the internet or need help completing our form you can:

  • call the surgery on 0161 871 2450 or;
  • attend the surgery in person and speak to our receptionists
  • ask a family member or carer to complete it on your behalf

Our reception team can complete the form on your behalf.

All appointment requests are triaged in the same way regardless of how you contact us.

Enhanced hours

The extended hours service is based at Eccles Gateway.

The times are Monday to Friday 6.30pm to 8pm and Saturday 9am to midday.

To make these appointments patients need to ring the surgery on 0161 871 2450.

Pharmacy First

Pharmacy First enables community pharmacists to supply prescription-only medicines, including antibiotics and antivirals where clinically appropriate, to treat seven common health conditions without the need to visit a GP. You can get treatment for these conditions by walking into the pharmacy or contacting them virtually. GP receptionists, NHS 111 and providers of emergency care will also be able to direct patients to pharmacies, that offer the service, if contacted.

What are the seven common conditions?

  • Sinusitis
  • Sore throat
  • Earache
  • Infected insect bite
  • Impetigo (a bacterial skin infection)
  • Shingles
  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women.

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

We ask all patients to come to the surgery wherever possible, mainly because we are better equipped to investigate and treat your condition at the surgery. Additionally, we can see three patients in the surgery in the time it takes to see one patient at home.

If you need to be visited at home please telephone the surgery before 11am. The receptionist will ask you for details about the nature of the situation so the doctor can assess priorities. The doctor may telephone you prior to visiting, and may decide a visit is not needed.
